Guide to Buy a Gaming Laptop

Gaming laptop

Contemporary gaming laptops have no shortcomings if you want to play Unreal Tournament or Half-Life. The graphics of popular games such as World of Warcraft were once stunning but laptops have evolved and state of the art specs make it convenient to play any of the traditional favorites. The real challenge is to play some of the latest games without any glitches.

League of Legends and Minecraft, Apex Legends, Counter-Strike, Grand Theft Auto V or Overwatch are demanding games but wait till you play Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Battlefield V, Forza Horizon 4 and Crysis 3.

These games can test the metal of any brand and if you are on a budget then you have to shop extensively to find a suitable gaming laptop.

Ordinary laptops, whether they are meant for personal use and for students or the business variants, are not developed for gaming. There are distinct specs you require to have a satiating gaming experience. Bearing in mind the various needs, here is a comprehensive guide to help you choose the best gaming laptop.

What to Look for:

Graphics Card

Begin with the graphics processing unit or GPU. It is commonly referred to as the graphics card. This is as important as the central processing unit or CPU.

When you are buying a laptop for personal or professional use, you should prioritize the CPU spec but a gaming laptop requires prioritizing the GPU.

Almost all laptops have integrated graphics these days but the strength can be too weak for powerful and demanding games.

You need dedicated graphics.

The video memory or VRAM should be sufficient for the games you intend to play. A 4GB graphics card may be sufficient for many but if you want to play the most demanding games, then notching up the VRAM by a few gigabytes becomes a necessity.

Check the minimum graphics requirements of the games you want to play and choose the GPU accordingly.

If your budget will stretch far enough try and get a latest generation RTX GPU from Nvidia. The 2070 models are good value for money and you can find the best RTX 2070 models here.

CPU

You should have a compatible CPU for the chosen GPU.

It is impractical to expect a gaming laptop to function efficiently simply because it has enough memory and support for graphics if the processor is dated.

You will notice that some games come with clear recommendations that you must have a 4.0GHz processor. The core matters as well.

The i3 and i5 generations may not be perfect for every latest game. The quad cores of other brands may also fall short.

You may need octa core processor for some games. For most gamers though, a quad core processor is sufficient. Here again, you should check the CPU recommendations of the developers of the games you want to play and accordingly zero in on a suitable processor.

Memory – RAM

You must have sufficient memory in the gaming laptop.

This is not the graphics memory we have already discussed in the first point regarding GPU.

This is the RAM that any computer requires. A gaming laptop should have 8GB of RAM.

Many gamers think 6GB is sufficient. It is not.

Your gaming laptop will run an operating system. There will be other software and files loaded as well. 4GB will fail to support most games.

6GB will struggle to support the graphics of the latest games. There may be latency or glitches. You should also try to go for a gaming laptop that has extra slots for RAM, at least one.

This will allow you to add more memory in the near future if the need arises. Do not go for a gaming laptop that has only one slot or the RAM soldered into the motherboard.

Storage

Hard drive is a relatively simpler spec and you should not have any trouble calculating how much space you need for storage.

1TB is the least you should go for. Anything less and you will run out of space at some point in time. A gaming laptop will not only have heavy games that take up a lot of space.

You will have other files too, perhaps videos and movies. Choose 1TB or more. Mechanical hard drive is more affordable than solid state drive or SSD but the latter is much quicker.

If you want a robust hard drive, go for SSD. 1TB SSD will be expensive so you can climb down to 500GB. A 500GB SSD hard drive is much better than a 1TB mechanical hard drive.

You can always use an external hard drive or some cloud storage for more space.

Screen

A gaming laptop should be large enough for an engaging experience and the resolution should be optimum.

Anything less than fifteen inches will mean you have a smaller screen than necessary.

You should definitely go for FHD or full high definition, which is 1080p. You can also choose UHD or ultra-high definition.

UHD gaming laptop will cost more but it will be worthwhile, especially if you want to play the latest games.

Portability

Finally, you must focus on portability and battery life. Since you have to go for a fifteen-inch gaming laptop or a model with larger screen, you will not get a lightweight option.

Even among these larger gaming laptops, some are unusually heavier than others. Try to find the right balance between size and weight.

Get a battery that will last at least a few hours. A gaming laptop should not have the same two to three cell battery that other models come with.

The battery has to be more potent because the graphics, video and audio play of latest games will draw much more power than typical software and applications.

Finally

Always compare half a dozen models or more before you choose a gaming laptop.

It is unlikely for anyone to get more options given a budget and a set of specifications.

The spectrum of gaming laptops is not as vast as personal and business laptops.

Since a gaming laptop with state of the art specs will cost a hefty sum of money, look out for discounts or some offers that can slash the price substantially.…

Excy Bike

The Entrepreneur Behind the Portable Recumbent Exercise Bike

How many times have you heard that someone had broken their leg, which led them to a brilliant entrepreneurial idea?

We’re assuming the answer is close to zero. Well, today, we’re going to change that number with a story about Michele Mehl.

Michele comes from Seattle and she has an amazing and inspiring entrepreneurial story to tell.

Essentially, she was about to launch Excy’s very first portable exercise bike when she went rollerblading and got severely injured.

While going through a complex recovery, she realized how to make her product help others that were in the same situation. As a matter of fact, she made a decision to shift her idea into building a bike that would help people bounce back from an injury.

That meant completely reshaping the target market and the focus of Excy.

How Michele Started Working on the Idea

During many months of tiring physical therapy and having to rely on caregivers, Michele was able to get a taste of what’s it like to live with an injury. In fact, there’s no other way to know how it is to live with disability, pain and disease until you feel it yourself.

After finding out herself how difficult it was to recover from an injury, Michele knew that she had to rethink her company.

That’s why she used all the time she had on her hands while being stuck in bed for months. She dedicated herself to designing a 14-lbs rehabilitation system.

The rehabilitation system Michele invented can be used for both upper and lower body cycling. On top of that, it works with a mobile app that accompanies it.

The Final Product

The final product is a combination of a recumbent exercise bike, a resistance machine, and an upper body ergometer. This product is the ultimate piece of equipment for physical therapy. And, on top of that, it’s portable, app-compatible and available to everyone.

Basically, with it, you’ll be able to do a light workout from nearly any chair. It works so well because of that. There will be no sitting discomfort for your lower body since you’ll be using the chair as your seating surface. In addition to that, you can make yourself more comfortable by adding an extra pillow.

What’s more, the bike goes so smoothly and makes no noise at all! That means that you can cycle anytime and anywhere, without worrying that you’ll disturb someone.

It’s noise-free, helpful and fun! You can include all of your family members and let them give it a try. It’s the perfect way to throw in a workout even when you’re busy doing something else.

Recumbent Versus Upright Bike

Upright bikes spin bikes for home use are perfect for those who are really into cycling. But mostly, they are good for those who don’t suffer from back problems.

If you are on the lookout for a good cardio workout, there’s no way of beating the upright bike.

However, for those who prefer comfort over cardio, we’d definitely recommend going with a recumbent bike. A recumbent exercise bike will help you burn the calories without straining yourself.…

treadclimber

What Is a TreadClimber and What Are the Benefits?

Anyone who has ever stepped foot into a gym is familiar with at least a few gym machines such as the treadmill, the elliptical, the stair climber, etc.

These machines are pretty standard, and we can find them in almost every gym. If you have a gym membership, we are sure that you have used these machines multiple times.

But are you familiar with the Bowfelx TreadClimber? If you haven’t, it’s high time that we told you all about it. There are numerous Bowflex TreadClimber reviews online for a good reason.

This one of a kind hybrid cardio machine combines the benefits of all three traditional gym machines.

By doing that, it allows you to burn more calories faster, which is its main advantage. Moreover, one of the greatest strengths of this machine is the cardio benefit it provides. By using it regularly, you can improve your HDL cholesterol, lower your blood pressure, and lower the risk of heart disease.

The TreadClimber combines a smooth elliptical motion with the stepping effect of a stair climber and the forward motion of a treadmill.

That means you can do more in less time. Plus, there will be very little impact on your joints (which is inevitable when you use a treadmill).

Burn More Calories in Less Time and Tone Your Muscles

Losing weight and getting fit isn’t easy; so wouldn’t it be great if we could speed up the whole process? That’s exactly what the TreadClimber provides — better results in less time. And we could all use some extra time in our daily lives, wouldn’t we?

Since the TreadClimber puts your body’s largest muscle groups to work, you will burn calories at an increased rate.

Actually, if you worked out on a treadmill at the same resistance level and the same speed, you would need 50% more time to burn the same number of calories you burn on the TreadClimber.

So even if you use your TreadClimber at a lower speed, it will help you burn more calories than a standard gym machine would.

Also, since it stimulates walking uphill, the TreadClimber is great for toning the muscles in your legs. All major muscle groups in your legs — your glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps, and calves are constantly working when you are on the TreadClimber.

Therefore, with regular use, you can expect those muscles to quickly become toned.

More Variety — Increased Motivation

Doing the same motion over and over again can seem monotonous; in fact, that could make you less eager to exercise regularly. Luckily the TreadClimber is all about variety. Its 3-in-1 function makes the most of each workout, but that doesn’t mean you have to use it the same way every time.

Whenever you feel like changing the pace of your workout, you can use the TreadClimber as a plain treadmill or a stair climber; all you need to do is make a few minor adjustments.

By shutting the power off and selecting a hydraulic intensity setting, you’ll get yourself a stair climber. Another option is using it as a treadmill on a 10% incline. You can do that by locking the two treadles together and switching the power on.

Choose Both the Speed and Resistance Levels

All modern gym machines offer a variety of resistance levels. TreadClimber, however, allows you to control both the resistance levels and the speed. There are 12 different resistance levels, which means the machine is suitable for both beginners and those who are already fit.

The great news is that you can start slow and keep moving up to more intense workouts as you grow stronger. When it comes to the speed, you can begin at a comfortable 0.5 mph and go all the way to 4.5 mph.

The TreadClimber will make you work for the results. However, you still have an opportunity to start very slowly and gradually increase the difficulty of your workouts over time.

Is the TreadClimber Right for Me?

The motion this 3-in-1 machine features is smooth, but that doesn’t mean you will get hold of it from the very first moment. In fact, it might take a while until you start to feel comfortable using it. You’ll need to concentrate on your balance and gait in order for the motion to feel natural.

In addition, you need to be prepared to work hard. While the TreadClimber does burn more calories in less time and provides a highly effective workout, that doesn’t mean you will get miraculous results. You won’t have to put in a lot of time, but you will definitely need to put some effort.

If you are having doubts about the TreadClimber, consider other options as well. For instance, a cross trainer might be a better fit for you.

A good cross trainer provides a full-body workout, which could also help you get stronger and lose weight. Plus, cross trainers are great for those who want to protect their joints and prevent injuries too.…

Magnesium

Magensium Supplements: Worth the Expense?

magnesium flakesIn recent months I have begun using magnesium-based supplements to help improve my recovery. Using both a recovery spray and a magnesium bath salt.

Since, using the magnesium spray and bath salts I have noticed several benefits and it is now a supplement that I make sure to always use post workout.

It was only when I stopped using the supplements for a week while I was away on a trip that I really noticed some serious delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). However, this also raised the question of how much exercise is too much?

This led me to read into what the health benefits of magnesium really are and write this post.

Magnesium is an essential component in a number of bodily processes such as energy generation, muscle contraction and optimal hormone production.

It is also used in hundreds of biochemical reactions within the body such as increasing protein synthesis, calcium absorption, insulin sensitivity. More benefits of magnesium oil and I have listed them below.

Benefits of Magnesium

  1. Better Sleep– When magnesium levels are low the hormone which controls sleep (melatonin) is affected therefore to help your melatonin levels you should have optimal magnesium levels.
  2. Increased Production of energy– Magensium helps with the production of ATP which is the cell’s energy store.
  3. Better exercise performance– Magnesium can increase the duration possible in exercise and raises glucose levels and reducing lactate levels.
  4. Improved Flexibility– As seen in the point above Magnesium can reduce lactic acid buildup. Lactic acid can cause to muscle pain and tightness.
  5. Increased DHEA levels– DHEA is a hormone that leads to the production of male and female sex hormones (androgens and estrogens). This can help treat depression, obesity and osteoporosis (condition that weakens bones).
  6. Increased Bone Strength– Magnesium increases calcium absorption and is one of the essential nutrients that contribute to bone health.
  7. Improved Anabolic Hormone Profile – Magnesium can increase testosterone levels which is used in anabolic function that can enhance muscle function and physical performance.
  8. Improved Hydration– Magnesium improves hydration as it is a necessary electrolyte.
  9. Relaxes Nervous System– Magnesium helps produce serotonin which relaxes the nervous system and lift your mood.

There are a lot more benefits of using Magnesium Supplements such as a Magnesium Spray and Magnesium Bath Salts.

If you would like to find out more about magnesium products you should head over to Transdermal Technology who have a number of products that aim to improve magnesium levels to optimise recovery from exercise.

They are also carrying out further research into these products and you can read about it on their site.

I have noticed a drastic increase in my recovery since I have been using Magnesium based supplements and would highly recommend them.
